DJI redefines the drone experience with the new FPV model
Breakthrough drone technology offers a breathtaking, cinematic flight experience and a new intuitive one-handed motion controller.
DJI, the global leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology, promises a special and immersive flight experience with its new type of drone. DJI FPV combines the first-person view experience and fast movement of competition drones with the camera capabilities of traditional drones, the safety and data transmission technologies typical of DJI consumer drones, and an optional innovative one-handed motion controller , which allows pilots to control the drone with one hand. DJI FPV represents a new category of drones that offers a wealth of possibilities for content creators and drone enthusiasts, whether they are beginners or professionals.
Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director of DJI Europe, said the following about the launch of the new FPV; "Since its founding in 2006, DJI has been redefining what drones are capable of with continuous development. This year, celebrating our 15th anniversary and paying tribute to innovation as our heritage, we reimagined what drone flying can be with DJI FPV. DJI FPV combines the best technologies available in a hybrid solution that has no competition. It can fly like a racing drone, hover like a traditional drone, accelerate like a self-built device and stop as fast as none of these. DJI FPV allows its users to experience the unparalleled thrill of drone flight without having to fear complex technology challenges or spend hours building a system. We can't wait for as many people as possible to try it."
The DJI FPV product line includes the DJI FPV drone , the DJI FPV Goggles v2 video glasses, the DJI FPV Remote Controller , and a new Motion Controller remote control , which enables drone maneuvering by following hand movements.
But why is it special?
Its high-performance motors enable amazing speed, its user interface is completely intuitive and the latest safety functions ensure proper control in every situation. The new FPV system also allows you to explore the experience of flight from the drone's perspective with low latency and high resolution thanks to O3, the third generation of DJI's own OcuSync signal transmission technology. Its unparalleled reliability and data transfer range contribute to extremely smooth and stable 4K video recording at 60 frames per second with RockSteady electronic image stabilization.
A flying experience for all skill levels
Whether you're an experienced FPV pilot or a complete beginner, DJI FPV offers three flight modes to help you fly with confidence according to your abilities:
Normal Mode (N): in this mode, DJI FPV works like other DJI drones, i.e. it flies using GPS and/or Visual Positioning Systems (VPS). For safety, the front obstacle sensors can be used, which signal in time and slow down the device if necessary.
Manual mode (M): in this case, you take full control of the drone, which is why it is recommended for more experienced users, since all sensors and hovering functions are disabled in this case.
Sport mode (S): a hybrid combination of the previous two, which offers some of the dynamic movement capabilities available in manual mode along with the most important safety features of normal mode. It forms a middle ground between the two other modes, giving you space to explore your abilities while experiencing the experience of FPV flight.
Safe flight
During use, you can also apply settings that not only make the flight memorable, but also safe. One of them is the emergency braking and hovering function available at the press of a single button , which can be used in all three flight modes. The visual positioning sensors (VPS) and the auxiliary light on the bottom of the aircraft can make it easier to take off and land smoothly. The Return to Home function can also help you, as it automatically returns the drone to the take-off point with a single button press, which also works if the data connection is lost. Safe flight is also served by the built-in GPS-based geofencing , which can provide information about airspace restrictions and possible dangers, and the ADS-B receiver system , which sends audio and visual notifications to the FPV goggles when ADS-B transmitters are nearby. detects an equipped aircraft or helicopter.
It is important that wherever you fly, always do it safely and responsibly and also know the regulations for flying. For example, many jurisdictions require drone pilots flying FPV goggles to be accompanied by a visual observer to monitor airspace hazards.
See the world like never before
DJI FPV uses the latest HD data transmission technology, so while wearing the DJI FPV Goggles v2, from the drone's point of view, the landscapes to be explored are presented in crystal clear, low latency and high resolution. In addition to the outstanding reliability of the O3 system, the most modern racing engines guarantee the magic of racing. A truly heart-pounding experience with a top speed of 140 km/h (87 mph) and acceleration from 0 to 100 (0-62 mph) in 2 seconds, which is possible with the new engines.
During the flight, you can choose from the following views
High-quality mode: in 1440×810 pixel resolution, with 60 FPS image refresh and 142° wide field of view, or even 150° field of view, with 50 FPS image refresh, you can see the world below you with a maximum delay of only 40 milliseconds.
Low Latency Mode: In this mode, you can activate a high frame rate for a more cinematic look, reducing the signal delay to 28 milliseconds. The resolution here is also 1440 × 810 pixels, the frame rate is 120 FPS with a field of view of 142° or 100 FPS with a field of view of 150°.
Audience mode: in this case, your point of view can be shared with up to eight other people, who can share the experience at the same level.
Breathtaking shots
DJI FPV's integrated 4K / 60fps 120 Mbps camera is mounted on a one-axis gimbal that provides stability for excellent footage even during complex maneuvers or vertical rotation. RockSteady stabilization technology smooths moving images and eliminates the Jello effect, which causes distortion when photographing and videoing fast-moving objects. What's more, the advanced distortion correction software can also remove the fisheye appearance that used to be common in FPV footage. You can record movies with up to 4x slow motion, 1080p and 120 fps, now in H.265 or H.264 format. With this solution, the recordings take up less space on the memory card, but the compression still preserves small details.
Educational tools to help you develop as easily and quickly as possible
Many interactive and realistic materials are now available so that you can quickly and confidently learn the tricks of flight. The latest version of the DJI Fly application, for example, also contains detailed instructions on how to operate DJI FPV. The newly developed DJI Virtual Flight App is a free simulator application that introduces you to drone operation in an easy, fun and risk-free environment.
